Our Process

The UPP Difference... and make no mistake there is a difference in a UPP precision machined aircraft engine part beginning with our Process Review Optimization Program (PROP).

PROP was developed and implemented by UPP to optimize product and process flow:

  • From the receipt of every order, whether previously run or new parts requirements, every step throughout the manufacturing process undergoes a microscopic review to assure quality and optimize cost and delivery of parts.
  • Jointly, quality, engineering and manufacturing review all processes, from Set-up to Routing Steps and Cycle Times.
  • The on-going review of all processes results in intelligent job sequencing, assessment of existing and new equipment needs, current and future workforce requirements – at all levels to optimize customer satisfaction.
  • PROP assures the “certainty of quality” by making quality the built-in requirement for every process. The question of “how to meet customer requirements and expectations” is answered.
  • PROP results and recommendations are brought to UPP's Executive Management for required funding and final approval.
  • Upon approval responsibilities for process optimization is assigned and monitored by management.


UPP's primary and secondary precision machining combines the appropriate equipment in the hands of experienced, trained machinists who can sculpt customer parts with:
  • Tightly held tolerances to 5 decimal accuracy
  • Machining diameters from .055 up to 10 inches
  • Turning lengths up to 23 inches
  • Bar feed up to 2-5/8 inch diameters

These are among the many capabilities UPP uses to meet customer specifications – and exceed customer expectations.

UPP developed PROP (Process Review for Optimization Program) as a “first step” in the order process. A group of quality managers, engineers, machinists and team leaders determine the optimum match of part and process.

Combining 65+ years of precision manufacturing experience, a highly skilled workforce and equipment including multi-axis CNC, grinding, milling and turning machinery and a parts capabilities catalog of more than 150,000 unique parts.

UPP makes “complex” seem “standard”.
